Causes of Windows Startup Errors

Windows startup failures can be caused by deleting critical startup files on the system disk (C:), deleting a second OS without first properly modifying the startup record, improperly modifying the startup record, corrupted startup filesetc.

Opening Command Prompt from Windows Recovery Environment

To repair MBR errors, you must first know how to open the command prompt when you cannot log into Windows.You need to know how to do this. There are several approaches. The first is useful when you cannot access the Windows installation disk. The second technique is useful if for some reason you cannot use the first method and you have a USB to install Windows.

Both techniques are demonstrated. If you do not have Windows installation media

you can open a command prompt from the Windows recovery environment. The advantage of this method is that you do not need Windows installation media.

First, turn on the computer and hold down the “F8” or “Shift+F8” shortcut during startup to put Windows into recovery mode.

Select “Troubleshooting” in the recovery environment.

Select “Advanced Options”.

Now select “Command Prompt”.

For security reasons, you may be asked to select a user account and enter the required password. To continue, do this. Once the command prompt opens, follow the MBR debugging instructions.

From Windows Installation Media

If you cannot access the recovery environment using the F8 key method, you can use the Windows installation media.

Insert the Windows installation media into the device, reboot, and boot from it.

Note: If you cannot boot from the Windows installation media, check to see if the BIOS boot priority is set correctly. Select CD/DVD or USB first, then standard hard drive/SSD.

Then click the “Repair Computer” link at the bottom.

Select “Troubleshooting” from the menu.

Then select “Command Prompt”.

After running Command Prompt, fix the MBR issue in Windows 10 and 11.

Fixing MBR errors in Windows 10 and 11

You can quickly fix Windows startup problems. All you need to do is run a few commands. Here is how to do it.

Use the following command to modify the master boot record.

(Optional) If you are dual booting and one of the other operating systems (such as Linux) has modified or replaced the original boot record, use the following command to modify the boot record.
